Vacancies continue to plague SEDC
STOCKDALE -- As the Stockdale Economic Development Corp. (SEDC) directors fill one vacancy, another opens.
According to Stockdale EDC President Frank Bain Jr. after the Aug. 21 meeting, J.C. Hrubetz will fill the vacancy left when Brent Akin resigned in June, due to conflicts with his work schedule. The term expires in December 2013.
As Hrubetz joined the board, another vacancy opened, as Josh Hussong resigned. His term expires in December.
Bain said anyone interested in filling the vacancy may contact him, Stockdale City Manager Banks Akin, or Stockdale Mayor Johnny Stahl.
Also during the meeting, the directors discussed the payment of outstanding bills to Southwest Engineers. The bills are for engineering and surveying services rendered regarding the development of the Stockdale Industrial Park.
Bain said the directors voted to pay half of the expenses, with the city of Stockdale to pay the other half, with a payment ceiling of $20,000. Once the limit is reached, the directors must meet to authorize the city secretary for payment.
The board also agreed to share costs with the Stockdale Chamber of Commerce to sponsor an ad that appears monthly in the Wilson County News, supporting news from Stockdale.
Bain also said that foundation work currently is being done for a second tenant to set up business in the industrial park. The property is adjacent to St. Mary’s Cemetery.
