Mary Jane Guerrero Barrientez, a lifelong resident of Floresville, Texas, entered eternal rest Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at 11:15 a.m. in the Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville, at the age of 88 years, 7 months, and 11 days. Mary Jane was born Jan. 13, 1924, in Floresville, the daughter of Frank and Juanita Travieso Guerrero.

After graduation from Floresville High School, Mary Jane was a homemaker. She married Jose DoHoyos; later she married Fred F. Barrientez on Jan. 24, 1964, in Floresville. Mary Jane was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 29 years, Fred F. Barrientez, on April 16, 1993; her daughters, Bertha Silva and JoAnn Sunderland; and her brothers and sisters, Frank Guerrero, Louis Guerrero, Joe Guerrero, Tony Guerrero, Frances Alfaro, and Roberta Barrientez.

Mary Jane is survived by her children, Benny DeHoyos and wife Eloisa of Floresville, Estella Rodriguez of San Antonio, Helen Holland and husband Edward of Floresville, Susie Gonzales and husband Noel of Seguin, Nancy Gutierrez and husband Ralph of Floresville, and Mary Frances Rodriguez and husband Billy of Michigan; 35 grandchildren; 89 great-grandchildren; 54 great-great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Tom Guerrero and wife Delia of Floresville and Steve Guerrero of Floresville.

Visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 26, at 5 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, officiated by the Rev. Andrzej Waszczenko.

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Eddie DeHoyos, Joseph Rodriguez, John Perez, Anthony Nieto, Luis Arevalos, Rudy Vasquez, Joe Sunderland, and Willie Guajardo.
