The La Vernia Independent School District (ISD) Newcomers Fair held Aug. 9 had record-high attendance. The fair, set up in the auditorium foyer, had tables manned by employees from each campus, volunteers from each PTO group, and sponsors from local clubs and organizations. Attendees received information from the athletics department, each La Vernia ISD campus, PTOs, Child Nutrition, Health and Wellness, Special Education and Special Programs, and the transportation department.

Designed to specifically welcome new parents to the district and meet district staff, the fair also offered an open forum for answering questions. The event included performances by the Mighty Bear Band, the La Vernia High School varsity cheerleaders, and the La Vernia HoneyBears dance team. La Vernia High School and Primary School also held a fashion show, to demonstrate appropriate attire for the new school year.
