Marion, TX.,(Sept. 1st, 2012) As the Summit Super Series winds to a conclusion, San Antonio Raceway played host to its second to last series race with a ‘Double Points’ show for the competitors. In two weeks the track holds the final race of the point’s series, with the year-end finals to be hold at Dallas Raceway, the end of the month.

On the evenings racing card were the Electronics, Footbrake and Jr. Dragster classes along the 10.00 and 11.00 Index Classes.Michael Keylich leads the Electronics class by a scant 22 points over defending track and national champ, Scott Ball.

Nelson Friedeck comes into the night only 10 points ahead of last year’s Footbrake track champ, Cole Herbold while Chris Pearson enters action with a healthy 65 point margin over Ashley Hubbell, last year’s champion in Jr. Dragsters.

Nolan Grier, in one of the Hall Brothers Racings Mustangs, led the early part of “Dialing for Dollars with a 10.7396 on a 10.73 dial. David Johns(Floresville) scarfed the jackpot during his run taking his dragster through at 7.2759 on a 7.27 number missing by only .0059.

After taking the “Dialing for Dollars” jackpot, David Johns pulled the nightly double when he took the victory in the Electronicsfinals. Johns, in the Johns Automotive, Wayne’s Paint & Body, Chevy powered, Worthy Chassis got the gift early when Bobby Mendez(Taft) in his 87 Camaro went red by .0011.

Johns, who lost in the first round of the ‘Quick 8,’ used consistent 7.28 & & 7.29’s on his way to the final round, including taking out the current points leader, Michael Keylich, in round 3. Mendez used the round 1 buy back, then picked up a few gift wins on red lights and break outs to meet with Johns in the finals.

Herbold was matched up against Dustin Bradford(San Antonio) in an all Roadster final. C. Herbold got away first with a better light, than nearly hit his dial, while Bradford missed his number.

C. Herbold rebought after a round 1 break out, then picked up a couple easy wins by break out, bye and red light, along with four performance wins. Bradford had to work a little harder with five performance victories and a break out and bye in the semis.
