Compared to last week: Alfalfa traded steady to firm, with ground Alfafla $5 higher. Coastal and wheat hay remained steady. Trade activity was light to moderate on moderate demand. A break from the heat this week with some cooler temperatures and some much needed rain. Most producers still hoping for more rain to get a third cutting. The Southeastern part of the state has had a good production of Coastal Bermuda so far this season. Prices for hay and pellets quoted per ton except where noted.

North, Central, & East Texas

Alfalfa: Mid-sized bales: Delivered: Premium to Supreme limited test $12-$15 per bale.

Large Squares: Delivered: Premium to Supreme $275-$280; Good to Premium $250-$275.

Coastal Bermuda: Small Squares: FOB: Good to Premium $330, $10 per bale.

Large Rounds: FOB: Good to Premium $60-$90 per roll, few sales $120-$130 per roll.

Rye: Large Rounds: FOB: $50-$60 per roll.

Klein Hay: large Bales: FOB: $60-$65 per roll.

South Texas Hay Report

Coastal Bermuda: Small squares: FOB: Good to Premium $230-$265, $7-$8 per bale; Fair to Good $165-$230, $5-$7 per bale.

Large rounds: FOB and delivered locally: Good to Premium $110-$140; $55-$70 per roll.
