U.S. Army National Guard Pfc. Victoria F. Podwika has graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C., and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Gordon, Ga.

Podwika completed an intensive 10-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Army core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. During the 10-week program, she was appointed squad leader.

Additionally, Podwika gained 22 weeks of hands-on training in her MOS as an IT Specialist at AIT school.

Podwika is continuing her education at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, where she is a member of the ROTC program.

She is the daughter of Matt and Sandy Podwika of Adkins, and is a 2011 graduate of La Vernia High School.
