Deputies say hallucinations prompted burglary call near Atascosa County

FAIRVIEW -- Casey Jordan McEnroe, 24, of Floresville is charged with possession of less than 1 gram of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1, after deputies from the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office say he reported being the victim of a home invasion Sept. 7.
Sheriff’s Investigator Roland Treviño said that at approximately 4 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to McEnroe’s residence on C.R. 111 near the Atascosa County line after the man reported that someone had broken into the house and fired shots at him before fleeing. Treviño said deputies from Wilson and Atascosa counties responded and began searching for suspects.
Deputies, including Cpl. Gary Laughlin Jr., responded to the home and reported that McEnroe appeared nervous and that his story was not making sense. Despite finding no evidence of the reported incident when they were given permission to search the home, deputies did find methamphetamine in plain view on the kitchen table.
McEnroe then admitted to deputies that he had used the illegal narcotic the day before and that what he saw might have been “a figment of his imagination,” Treviño said.
McEnroe was transported to the Wilson County Jail, where records indicate he was released after posting $8,000 bond.
