Offer condolences


Walter E. Koepp, 83, of Seguin, Texas, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012. Walter was born on Sept. 11, 1928, in Guadalupe County to Walter A. and Anna Wieding Koepp.

Walter was a graduate of the Seguin High School class of 1947 and a graduate of Texas A&M University, class of 1951. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, where he worked as an intelligence officer. He was a governmental loan officer with the land bank and later the owner of WAW Sand Co. Everyone knew that Walter loved attending Texas A&M football games. The 12th Man received its newest member at the start of the fourth quarter of the Sept. 8 Texas A&M vs. Florida football game. Rest in peace, Walter.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Walter is survived by special friends, Debbie and Juan “Charlie” Rios and Randal and Rissa Springs and their families; numerous loving cousins; a host of friends; and his beloved dog and companion, Becky.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Sept. 11, from 5-7 p.m. in the Tres Hewell Chapel in Seguin.

A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Emanuel’s Lutheran Church in Seguin with the Rev. Paul J. Zwarich and pastoral assistant Donna Lou Zipp officiating.

Interment will follow in the Christ Lutheran of Elm Creek Cemetery in Seguin.

Serving as pallbearers will be Juan C. Rios, Randal Springs, Emilio Ochoa, Bill Meier, Mike Spivey, and Brett Spivey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Freeman and the Emanuel’s Lutheran Church Men’s Bible Class.

Memorial contributions may be made to Emanuel’s Lutheran Church, 206 N. Travis, Seguin, TX 78155 or to the Karnes County Texas A&M Club Scholarship Fund, c/o Mark Gotthardt, 2781 U.S. 181, Hobson, TX 78117.
