1963-2012

Alvin Joe Mikolajczyk, 48, of St. Hedwig, Texas, died unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, in St. Hedwig. He was born Nov. 15, 1963, the son of Alex and Clara Mikolajczyk.

Alvin was a devoted son and loving father. He was the owner and driving force of Maverick General Contracting. He was a hardworking and successful businessman. Alvin lived life at one pace -- full speed ahead, and he lived it big -- always aspiring to higher heights. He enjoyed fishing with his children, nephews, and friends. He loved to hunt and make sausage, but for him the best part was sharing his sausage with others. Alvin embraced hard work with zeal and never turned away anyone in need. He loved to be the star and was good at it too! He seldom missed Mass and took pride in taking his children along with him. His children were the shine in his eyes.

Alvin was preceded in death by his nephew, Kermit Mikolajczyk, on Aug. 18, 2012; his sister, Alexine; his brother, Allen Mikolajczyk; and grandparents Clements and Clara Zigmond and Ben and Victoria Mikolajczyk.

He is survived by his children, Carson and Connor Mikolajczyk; the mother of his children, Melissa Mikolajczyk; his parents, Alex and Clara Mikolajczyk; his brothers, Clarence, Clinton, and Albert Mikolajczyk; and his sister, Clarine Boeck.

Visitation was held Monday, Sept. 3, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in St. Hedwig, with the Rev. Paul Fiacek officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to a scholarship of the donor’s choice in Alvin’s name.
