Support the outstanding youth of La Vernia by participating in the 16th annual La Vernia Lions Club Scholarship Golf Tournament Saturday, Sept. 15, at 8 a.m. at the Max Starcke Golf Course at 650 River Drive W. in Seguin.

Registration will be at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The meal immediately following will be donated for all players. Participants can pick their own teams with a handicap system in a four-person scramble format.

First- through third-place teams will win prizes ranging from $200 to $400. Closest to the pin and longest drive prizes also will be awarded.

The fee is $60 per player, with all proceeds going directly to scholarships for graduating students of La Vernia High School.
