ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

Cattle raisers to host fall meeting

The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association will host its fall meeting Monday through Wednesday, Sept. 24-26, in the Sheraton Austin at the Capitol located at 701 East 11th St. in downtown Austin.

The meeting will kick off with a welcome reception Monday at 6 p.m. On Tuesday, participants can attend briefing sessions, hosted by the cattle raisers association committees, beginning at 7:30 a.m. The general session is scheduled for Wednesday at 9 a.m.

Scheduled speakers Tuesday include Dr. Dee Ellis, Texas Animal Health Commission; State Rep. J.M. Lozano, Texas House Speaker Joe Straus, Texas Comptroller Susan Combs, and Dr. Russell Cross, department head, Animal Science at Texas A&M University. Wednesday’s schedule includes Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples, who will talk about border security and what specific agricultural issues ranchers need to be focused on during the 2013 legislative session.
