FLORESVILLE -- Papers filed today in Wilson County District Court by Floresville City Attorney Louis T. Rosenberg call for the dismissal of a lawsuit against four Floresville city councilmen and for the reinstatement of a councilman who resigned last month.

Prior to a judge’s arrival in the courtroom, Rosenberg -- who represented the city of Floresville and Mayor Daniel Tejada -- rose to inform District Clerk Deborah Bryan that the plaintiff wished to file an order to dismiss without prejudice. The order, if signed by a judge, would dismiss Tejada’s suit against councilmen Jesse Christopher Flores, Mario Morones, John W. Guerrero, and Sherry Martinez Castillo.

The order to dismiss is pursuant to a bench memorandum, which Rosenberg also filed, declaring that former Councilman Johnnie R. Gomez remains on the council. Gomez, who is a candidate for mayor, resigned his seat prior to the Aug. 22 deadline to file for a place on the Nov. 6 election ballot.

Two council meetings are set for today at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
