Floresville City Councilman Mario Morones refutes rumors Sept. 14 that he resigned his council seat as City Secretary Margaret Aranda shows him a photocopy of a purported resignation letter left in her office.

FLORESVILLE -- City Councilman Mario Morones has not resigned from his council seat, putting paid to rumors in the community to that effect.
Morones told the Wilson County News he received a phone call at approximately 9 a.m. today from Floresville City Secretary Margaret Aranda, advising she had received his resignation letter. Aranda asked if he had resigned, to which he responded he had not, but that he would visit City Hall later to view the document in question.
At approximately 10:50 a.m., Morones went to City Hall, accompanied by Floresville businessman Jim Miller, along with a reporter from this newspaper.
Aranda presented Morones with a photocopy of a letter and asked him if he had resigned. Morones advised he had not, and asked for the original of the document she showed him. Aranda said the only document she had was another copy, which had been folded and left in her office.
The city secretary had not responded to a request for comment before this item was posted.
This is the latest in ongoing issues regarding the Floresville City Council in the wake of the city’s plan to build a sports complex and residents petitioning for the opportunity to vote on the matter, followed by a failure to muster quorums and the lack of a presiding officer for scheduled council meetings, a lawsuit filed by the mayor against the city councilmen in response to recent absences by Morones and fellow Councilman John Guerrero, and more.

I have said it before and I will say it again,I am none of the people that you constantly put down and say that I am .The reason I blog in the first place is that I am hispanic and when I read some, not all, but alot of the blogs about this subject they sounded very racist.
I am glad to say that I have many friends that are white and they would laugh at you if you told them that I was a racist.Maybe if they read some of the things I have blogged in defense of my fellow hispanics they may also see it as racist on my part.Maybe if some of your hispanic friends read what you guys have blogged they to would see it as racist on your part. I am aware that two wrongs don't make a right.

I don't like to use the word "power" because ALL city council members should be deciding what is best for ALL the citizens of Floresville. But we have seen in recent months that it is not working this way. The Mayor has a personal agenda, for whatever reason, and has had Gomez, Castillo and Flores in his pocket. Those 4 individuals have not represented the entire citizens of Floresville. Guerrero and Morones have because they have questioned their motives. Even after the Mayor is out of office, he will continue to influence this group of people. He is not going to leave them alone. The Mayor is a desperate man, he is involved in the campaigns, he will not go into the night quietly. Let the investigations begin. Running a city is like running a business. I don't know of any succesful business that is being operated by uneducated or inexperienced managers. In order to run a successful city, state or country the leaders must be experienced or educated in economics, government and public relations. I personally know some of the members of the city council and know that at least one of them struggled to even graduate high school and the others lack the education and experience. Maybe they are self centered but their decisions to increase city spending without the resources clearly shows they are unable to manage a city.

The Mayor, Gomez and Castillo are laughing it up right now, thinking its a joke. The city secretary is in on it and she knows who did it. This is a serious incident, but nothing will be done about it. This is just another black eye on this city. We are the laughing stock of Texas because of the Mayor and a few council members. Mario, get your lawyer, file a complaint and make sure this gets investigated. There should be finger prints on the paper. Was the envelope sealed? If it was, there is DNA. Check her phone activity for the past couple of days, who called her, who did she call? Are there any security cameras in the building? Don't let this pass, Mario. The mayor is desperate!
