Alvin, you are kidding, right? Not eventually, the Mayor is being replaced. There will also be new city council representatives. If the city is being run correctly then we will be sure that our tax dollars will be spent wisely, our streets will be repaired, the water/sewer system will be working as it should, the FEDC director will be replaced and will have new competent directors, the Event Center will also have new leaders, there will be new management at City Hall and a forensic audit will be ordered on all accounts. I can live with that, can't you?

Is this a hollywood plot to get us to watch more movies?

A couple of points for clarification.

1. The Mayor did NOT use the justice system to get his way. The lawsuit against the entire Council was dropped by the City Attorney. This happened after the attorney for Councilman Guerrero and Councilman Morones filed for dismissal on the grounds that the Mayor did not have the authority, under the City Charter, to bring such charges. Bottom Line - the Mayor did not have the legal standing and therefore the attempt to have the Courts order attendance of City Council Meetings was withdrawn by the Mayor's attorney (a.k.a. City Attorney).

2. The Texas Constitution, as I have posted before, is the grounds under which Councilman Gomez remains in his seat. The City Council must call for a special election to fill his seat as he has RESIGNED. Rene Gomez eligibility to run for Mayor is another question entirely. By not stepping down from his seat on the City Council he is in direct violation of the resign/run requirements of the City Charter and therefore is ineligible to be Mayor. The legal challenge, however, can only occur at filing or after the election. Bottom Line - Gomez will NEVER BE MAYOR!

There is no need to modify the City Charter much less defile it with Danny Tejada or Rene Gomez amendments!

As a result of the Mayor using the justice system as a means of getting his way, I would like to suggest that the City Charter be amended to avoid this fiasco again. 1. A mayor may not file a lawsuit against the City Council in order to force them to attend meetings. Let's call it The Danny "throw a tantrum to get my way" Tejada Rule. 2. A councilman that resigns their seat may not keep it for whatever reason. Once you submit your letter of resignation, you are out. Name a replacement at that meeting or have a special election to fill that seat. Call it The Rene Gomez "run over by bus" Rule. These 2 amendments to the City Charter should have no problem being passed by the citizens of Floresville. Tick, tock; tick tock! Thanks CTD.

Facts only please: I didn't vote for him, nor would I. Just because my mailing address is Floresville does not mean I'm a City resident. I certainly wish I had the opportunity to vote him out of office, but since I can't, I urge others to vow to never re-elect him to any future position of trust. Unless of course, you like tyrants.
