The H.U.M.A.N. (Helping Unite Man and Nutrition) vending machines have been installed, filled, tested, and are ready to go. One vending machine has been installed in the common area of La Vernia High School leading into the gymnasium, and the other has been installed at the auditorium.

The H.U.M.A.N. vending machines are the first around this area, and are filled only with products that meet health standards governed by the Texas Department of Agriculture and Texas School Nutrition Policies.

These are the only machines that the students will have access to during school hours and are credit-card accessible. Accessibility will also be available during after-school or weekend events.

Vicki Spessard is the child nutrition director for the La Vernia Independent School District.
