Eagle Ford: Falls City ISD to hire second principal
FALLS CITY -- Soon, the Luther Thomas Elementary School here could have its own principal, following a vote by the Falls City Independent School District (ISD) board during its Sept. 19 meeting.
Following the meeting, Superintendent’s Secretary Terri Crawford said that Principal Christy Blocker -- who currently serves as principal over both the elementary school and Falls City High School -- would continue as principal of the high school, which provides an education to students in seventh through 12th grades. The new principal, when hired, would address the needs of the Falls City ISD’s kindergarten through sixth-grade students. The Falls City ISD currently is home to approximately 365 students, she said.
Crawford said the district already has begun advertising for the position on its campus and on its website, www2.fcisd.net.
Also during the meeting, the board voted to solicit bids for an oil and natural gas lease. Crawford said someone recently expressed an interest in leasing 1.465 acres of district-owned land. The property is located along U.S. 181, between Karnes City and Falls City.
Because the district is a publicly funded entity, it will advertise its intentions for the next two weeks. The deadline to submit bids is Oct. 8 at noon, Crawford said. Bids will be opened during the Oct. 17 board meeting.
