STOCKDALE -- “If you live here long enough, you are gonna need an ambulance,” said Wilson County Pct. 4 Commissioner Larry Wiley, during a Sept. 19 town hall meeting. “... You may not need it now. You are gonna need it then and it’s not a large amount when you consider what it can do for you today.” . . .

A small tax here a small tax there...... The FACT is the government is grabbing at my paycheck before my wife even has a chance. NO to the Stockdale ESD! I have been speaking with as many people as possible in the Stockdale area telling them what a bad idea this is and the consensus from most of them agree! No ESD!

I agree a county wide ESD would be the way to go however that's not the case, and appears its not going to happen that way. I have lived in Stockdale since the 90's, there is a lot of small town talk that goes on that is not necessarily based off of the facts, and I don't feel thats exactly fair. Why contribute to an obvious problem, why not help be a solution.
I also understand that if this ESD fails our area risks loosing our EMS and I do not want to see this happen. Not that I have had to use Stockdale EMS, but I have had family and friends that have, and on a few of those occasions if they wouldn't have had the EMS they might not be here now. So once it's gone can I count you people that are bickering now to show up?
All I see on here is bickering about having to pay another tax, a tax that is rather a small amount, that goes towards ensuring everyone in this community has a ambulance show up at your door when you or a loved one needs it. So unless any of you know of an alternative that hasn't been tried already, lets quit the bellow aching and do the right thing.
And "it's me" if you would check with the workings of ESD 1 or 2, or attend one of the meetings that I have seen flyers for all over town you would know, that every citizen within this area has the opportunity to serve on the ESD board once it is formed. So it's not any one single individual responsible for the tax dollars, its a board of 5 people. As far as tax dollars goes, this is the way to go, where as before the county commissioners were responsible for providing emergency services, and lets be honest it's apparent that emergency services isn't the priority in this county,. I have looked at other counties that have ESD's, and they work great, they represent the citizens, there primary concern is the well being of citizens, and ensure the tax dollars are being spent appropriately.
So please if your going to say anything else, lets make a statement based off of facts, not personal opinions or hearsay. None of us wants another tax, but we are growing, its apparent this is something this community needs, and we aren't in the 18th century anymore, we are going to have to pay for it one way or another.

High water your right on the money! A county wide EMS and fire instead of all the little chiefs playing with our tax dollars and bickering among each other. Great idea as long as Edwin Baker stays away from it and is not n charge.

The better solution is a county-wide district. This issue continues to spawn controversy and scattered un-coordinated districts across the county. I am not confident that my tax dollars will be well spent in the proposed district.
