Offer condolences


Raymond “Ramon” Mendez Sr., 82, of Sutherland Springs, Texas, passed away on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012. He was born on Feb. 6, 1930, to Enrique and Rufugia Cardenas Mendez.

Ramon was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Garza Mendez; his children, Johnny Joe Mendez, Helen Rodriguez, Raymond Mendez Jr., Tony Mendez, Daniel Mendez, Gilbert Mendez, and Reynaldo Mendez; brothers and sisters Lupe Ximendez, Maria Garza, Antonia Garza, Juan Mendez, Joe Mendez, Mary Lerma, Carmen Rodriguez, Manuela Garza, Diana Segura, Ninfa Flores, and Carlos Mendez; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous other family members; and many loving friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Sept. 20, from 5-8 p.m. with a rosary vigil recited at 7 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A Mass was held Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stockdale with the Rev. Dennis Jarzombek officiating.

Interment followed in the Sutherland Springs Cemetery in Sutherland Springs.

Memorial contributions may be made back to the family.
