The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will present its Pond Management class Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 9 a.m. until noon in the Hornsby Bend Biosolids Management located at 2210 S. F.M. 973 in Austin.

“This class will be useful to landowners wanting to build a pond on their property, as well as those who already have a pond on their property and would like to learn more about maintaining or stocking it,” said Julie Ansley, AgriLife Extension agent for agriculture and natural resources for Travis County.

Topics will include pond site selection, construction, sealing, fertilizing, clearing, and stocking, as well as aquatic plant control and feeding.

Three continuing education units -- two general and one integrated pest management -- will be offered for Texas Department of Agriculture private pesticide applicators. Refreshments will be provided.

Program preregistration prior to Friday, Sept. 28, by 3 p.m. is $20. Registration after Sept. 28, including on-site, will be $25 and also must be paid by check or money order.

Attendees are requested to register by calling Sue Carrasco at 512-854-9600 or to ensure an accurate count for handouts and refreshments, and for any additional program information.
