La Vernia Junior High School is proud to announce that two of its own, Kollin Fitch and Madison Summy, participated in this summer’s Lone Star Leadership Academy.

Selection for the academy is based on each student’s demonstrated academic success and leadership ability, an educator recommendation, and involvement in school and community activities.

Lone Star Leadership Academy camps took place in Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin/San Antonio, and Houston/Galveston. Participants experienced what they are learning in school through visits to historically, politically, scientifically, and environmentally significant sites. Venues included the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing, the offices of their state legislators at the Texas State Capitol, the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, the Alamo, NASA, and the San Jacinto Battleground Monument.
