Under the leadership of Coach Leah Nickell, La Vernia High School offers a Sports Medicine class as an elective where the students learn the basic duties as an athletic trainer.

Athletic trainers for 2012-13 are (back, from left) Allegra Holifield, Lexi Sollars, Ellery Holifield, Cassidy Kotara, Julie Skrzycki, Jessica Willey, Cambri Moeller, (front) Madison Lansdale, Kaylin Bratz, Mollie Wildenstein, Ashley Nanton, Kenna Turner, Courtney Shussler, Vicki Martinez, and Kelsey Rasmussen. Kim Jacob is also a trainer. The trainers attend all practices, including two-a-days for football, and all games.
