Enter Lions peanut brittle contest Oct. 13
Who makes the best peanut brittle? If you think you do, enter the Floresville Lions Club’s peanut brittle contest and you might beat out last year’s winners. The contest will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, during the Floresville Peanut Festival.
Entries will be accepted from 8-9:30 a.m. at the Jailhouse Museum on the courthouse square. Each entry will be numbered, and the judges will not be aware of the names of the contestants until after the judging is complete.
Each contestant must submit one gallon of peanut brittle in an undecorated, clear glass jar. Peanut brittle must be homemade and will become the property of the Lions Club. Judging criteria are color, appearance, texture, and flavor.
Winners will be announced and trophies awarded on Saturday afternoon. Contestants do not have to be present to win.
Lions Club members are currently soliciting bids for the top winners. The minimum bid is $75 and all proceeds benefit the Lions Club’s scholarship fund. Each and every bidder will receive a gallon of homemade peanut brittle.
For more information, contact Lion Paul Sack at 830-393-5293, Lion LaJuana Newnam-Leus at 830-393-2166, or any member of the Floresville Lions Club.
