Pleasanton, TX.,(Sept. 29th, 2012) As fall begins, racing season came to an end on the 1Ž4 mile, semi-banked, dirt oval just outside Pleasanton. Only one more point’s race remained on Saturday, but Mother Nature intervened washing out the show. After a long discussion on finding a possible reschedule date, track official decided to call the season a wrap. GAP I-37 Raceway will host a special two-day ‘1,000 Buck Shootout’ coming up on October 12th-13th.

Prior rain canceling the event, several points races were still up for grabs, while a couple others were either sewn up, or far enough out of reach to be considered over.

The IMCA Modifieds had one of the closest battles remaining with 2010 track champ, Bill Pittaway(Corpus Christi) picking up the championship with a mere two point lead over last year’s runner-up, Jamie Campbell and another two points back to track rookie, Chuck Chesler.

In the IMCA Southern Sportmods, another Corpus Christi driver, JJ Jennings held an insurmountable lead over multi-time and defending champion, Johnny Torres. Torres, who grabbed the IMCA Lone Star Series Sportmod crown, had a triad of young guns hot on his heels with Talon Minten, RobbieMinten and Cody Leonard within striking distance of second.

It’s a three man fight for the Limited Late Model crown between Trey Votion(2011 track champ), Craig Crawley and Richard Bartosh(2010 track champ). Votion, from New Braunfels, was able to back up his championship in one of the few Ford powered machines.

San Antonio’s Mike Lyon, who was crowned track champ, would have started the night with only a six point advantage over Dennis Hilla in the Street Stock class.

Pure Stocks had three drivers in the running. Adam Torres headed the pack by eleven over past champion, Janel Hilla and twenty-two ahead of rookie, Ryan Doyon. Torres(San Antonio) joined his brother Johnny, a multi-time title winner, adding to the family championship tradition.

Floresville’s Dillon Gaither had the Front Runner title locked up over Hailee Marcx beginning the night with a fifty-six point edge, picking up the title. The young Gaither looks to make a move up in class for the 2013 season.
