STOCKDALE -- It has been two weeks since a beloved Stockdale couple were laid to rest following their murders. Now, District Attorney Rene Peña of the 81st Judicial District has confirmed that Crime Stoppers of Wilson County is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to a suspect’s arrest.

“We believe there are people that have information, who are not forthcoming,” Assistant District Attorney Audrey Louis of the 81st Judicial District said of the ongoing investigation.

According to an affidavit for search warrant, which was obtained from the Wilson County District Clerk’s Office through an open records request, Sgt. Randy Broom and deputies Franklin Ashton and Manuel Perez, all of the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the residence of Steven and Ramona Lambeck on C.R. 401 at approximately 3:15 a.m. Sept. 20, after a report of a possible murder. The affidavit, which was submitted later that morning by Texas Ranger Troy Wilson, indicates that the sheriff’s deputies entered the home and found the bodies of 56-year-old Steven and his 50-year-old wife, Ramona, in the couple’s bed. Each had suffered gunshot wounds to their heads.

Wilson County Sheriff Joe D. Tackitt Jr. said investigators believe that the couple were killed in their sleep.

Sitting in the residence was Steven’s 28-year-old son, Tyson, who had been shot through his left shoulder. Personnel from the Stockdale Emergency Medical Services treated Tyson at the scene, before he was flown via helicopter to the San Antonio Military Medical Center.

Tackitt said it is unknown what type of weapon was used in the commission of the crime, because no shell casings were found. However, investigators suspect that it was a revolver.

In addition to blood evidence, firearms, and ammunition, cellular telephones and laptop computers were among the items officers collected when they executed the search warrant. Wilson on Sept. 28 filed a second affidavit, requesting that a forensic examination be performed on the telephones. Louis said this process -- referred to as “dumping” -- could allow investigators to view text and picture messages, email messages, Internet usage histories, and more that could be stored within a device’s memory. This data, of which similar information will be researched on the computers, could shed light on the motive or suspects.

Louis also said that the district attorney’s office does not actually perform the investigation.

“We only act in an advisory capacity,” she said. “Our office is not actively involved in investigating, other than to provide assistance, such as in the drafting of warrants ... [the deputies and the rangers] conduct all of the interviews and crime scene investigations.”

Information received by Crime Stoppers of Wilson County remains entirely anonymous. Tips can be submitted in three ways:

•Via telephone, at 830-393-INFO (4636).

•Online at bit.ly/NDrIut.

•By texting the word “MONEY,” along with the tip, to CRIMES (274637).
