FLORESVILLE -- Police here are investigating a Sept. 29 burglary at the Crawford Pharmacy on U.S. 181.
The surveillance video that the pharmacy provided to the police shows a tall, thin male wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt, mask, black gloves, blue jeans, and black boots entering the store through a small window at approximately 1:35 a.m. Once inside, the perpetrator stole six to seven bottles of hydrocodone before leaving the premises, said Lt. Chad Clark of the Floresville Police Department. The pharmacy’s management places the value of the stolen narcotics at approximately $350.
Clark said Patrolman Daniel Small Jr. was dispatched to the location when the glass breakage triggered a security alarm. He arrived within two minutes, but the suspect already had fled. Evidence at the scene revealed that he had entered the store through an adjacent doctor’s office, after breaking a window.
According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, hydrocodone frequently is prescribed for the treatment of moderate to severe pain. It is “the most frequently prescribed opioid in the United States and is associated with more drug abuse and diversion than any other licit or illicit opioid.”
