1925-2012

Annie Alice Hilbig, 87, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012. She was born on Jan. 30, 1925, in Laredo, Texas, to Thomas Francis Cullinane and Teresa Eugenia Irwin.

Annie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emil Sylvester Hilbig; grandson Daniel Hilbig Schroeder; four brothers; and one sister.

She is survived by her sons, James Hilbig and wife Denise of San Antonio, Gerard Hilbig and wife Ann of Houston, and William Hilbig and wife Beth of Palm City, Fla.; daughters Mary Salazar and husband Carlos of Sutherland Springs, Linda Gonzales of La Vernia, and Linda Schroeder and husband Dave of Marshalltown, Iowa; grandchildren Carl Emil Hilbig, Patrick Hilbig Schroeder, Allen Emrie Engelke, Jacob Salazar, Michael Hilbig, Victoria Salazar, Emily Hilbig, Teresa Hilbig, Eric Odden, and Travis Odden; great-grandchildren Rebecca Hilbig, Patricia Hilbig, and Ella Grace Salazar; sister-in-law Georgie Cullinane of San Antonio; brother-in-law Ernest Hilbig and wife Betty of La Vernia; numerous nieces and nephews; extended loving family; and many friends.

Visitation was held on Monday, Oct. 8, from 5-8 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral Mass was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the St. Gerard Catholic Church in San Antonio with the Rev. Alton Carr CSSR officiating.

Interment followed in the St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery in Martinez.
