Offer condolences


Alice Bernice (Kosub) Kiolbassa, better known as “Nana,” born on May 23, 1917, joined her husband in heaven Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at age 95.

Alice’s family and get-togethers meant everything to her. Her cheerful, kind, and loving way will always be cherished by those she leaves behind.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Alois Kiolbassa; parents Rudolph and Hedwig Kosub; and siblings Walter “Gene” Kosub, Emelia Gerlick, and Anna Kolodiejczyk.

Alice is survived by her eldest son, George M. Kiolbassa and wife Lillian; grandchildren Cheryl Kindervater and husband Jim, Sandra Walsh and husband Erik, and Stacy Johnston and husband Jared; great-grandchildren Brendan and Claire Walsh, and Mackenzie and Jake Johnston; son Thomas W. Kiolbassa and wife Karen; grandchildren Brenda Miller and husband Dale, Laura Ballard and husband Ronald, and Thomas W. Kiolbassa Jr. and wife Melanie Guest; great-grandchildren Emily and Anna Miller, and Benjamin and Catherine Ballard; sister-in-law Irene Slief; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 6-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia, Texas.

A rosary and Mass will follow Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in St. Hedwig with the Rev. Bill Zadora officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church Steeple Fund, P.O. Box 100, St. Hedwig, TX 78154.
