1920-2012

Norma Louise Behrendt, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at the age of 92.

Norma lived a very full life and was always giving to others. One year she was the Volunteer of the Year at the San Antonio Chest Hospital. She also volunteered at the Comanche Nutrition Site. Norma was also enthusiastic with all she set her heart to do. She was a member of the United Church of Christ for 64 years. She worked for more than 20 years at the Handy Andy supermarket and was a department manager. Later she worked at the Sommer Drug Store Warehouse. She was a member of Hermann Sons for 50 years. Norma truly lived life to the fullest.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Marvin; parents Frank and Dora (Magnus) Jackel; and her two brothers, Ernest and Milton Jackel.

Norma is survived by her daughters, Ernestine Ierien and husband Robert and Peggy Jo Behrendt. She will also be missed by her three grandchildren, Jodi Lynne Ierien, Robert Ierien II, and Erika Springer; and her two great-grandchildren, Rachel and Megan Ierien.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 6-8 p.m. in the Mission Park Funeral Chapel South in San Antonio, Texas.
