Polished Edge: Get tickets now for country legend Ray Price
Ray Price and Bobby Flores will perform in concert Saturday, Nov. 3, in the Floresville Event Center.
The city of Floresville will host Ray Price, “One of America’s National Treasures” and “A True Living Legend” in concert Saturday, Nov. 3, in the Floresville Event Center. The evening also will feature Bobby Flores and the “Yellow Rose Band” opening for the country legend. Performance time is 8-11 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.
Born Noble Ray Price, of Perryville, Texas, and following his dream and love for music, he landed a spot on the prestigious “Big ‘D’ Jamboree,” where he gained national exposure when parts of the show were broadcast over the CBS Radio Network. Ray’s continued success gave him his first major break, signing with Columbia Records in 1951.
After moving to Nashville, Tenn., he befriended Hank Williams; together they co-wrote the hit, “Weary Blues From Waitin.’” They performed many shows together and even shared a house in Nashville. Ray is a protégé of Hank, who helped to pave the way for Ray to become one of the most significant artists in all of country music.
Ray’s band, “The Cherokee Cowboys,” was a training ground for several legendary artists and musicians, such as Willie Nelson, Roger Miller, Johnny Paycheck, Darrell McCall, Johnny Bush, steel guitar masters Buddy Emmons and Jimmy Day, and guitarist Pete Wade.
From 1952 until today, Ray has compiled one of the most distinguished lists of hit records of any artist who has ever recorded in all of country music. Ray Price is credited with producing the most emotional honky-tonk music ever made. His lushly arranged country-pop ballads have now become standards in country music.
In 1996, Ray Price was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. There to present the award was long-time friend, Kris Kristofferson.
With more than 20 major personal appearances, 31 albums, and 50 singles, Ray Price still has the velvety voice and bares his heart and soul in all his music. Ray continues to play to sold out audiences all over the world, bringing his fans the Ray Price sound they have come to love, from the numerous strings to the haunting sound of the Ray Price shuffle beat.
Opening for Ray Price will be Grammy Award recipient Bobby Flores and his “Yellow Rose Band.” He, along with his six-piece band featuring that “trio fiddle” line, bring to listeners the very best in traditional country & Western swing music.
Bobby is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, arranger, producer, composer, and first-call session musician. He toured with Ray Price for five years as his first fiddle/violin and led the complete string section during that time. Bobby has shared the stage and recorded with Willie Nelson, Johnny Bush, and Doug Sahm, just to name a few.
Bobby has performed in Texas dancehalls since he was 9 years old. He has performed for numerous television shows and major personal appearances, including “Austin City Limits,” “The Grand Ole Opry,” TNN “Prime Time,” at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and for several Willie Nelson Fourth of July picnics. Bobby currently is featured on the RFD TV channel, which has received numerous rave reviews from country music lovers everywhere -- including Europe!
Bobby is honored to be an inductee into the “Texas Western Swing Hall of Fame”.
This is expected to be a sold out special engagement.
