Floresville High School alumni Dennis Perez will help the University of the In-carnate Word’s Theatre Arts Department celebrate its two nominations for Alamo Theatre Arts Council (ATAC) Globe awards. The university’s theatre arts department has been nominated in the drama category for “The Tempest” by William Shakespeare, and “Jack and Jill” by Jane Martin.

The Tempest, which opened this spring, was directed by Mark Stringham and featured Perez as the drunken butler, Stephano. Perez, along with fellow UIW students Zach Danz and Bradley Tejeda, have been asked to perform a short scene from “The Tempest” during the 22nd annual ATAC Globe Awards Sunday, Oct. 14, with pre-show/cocktails at 5:30 p.m. and curtain up at 6 p.m. The ceremony will take place in the Charlene McCombs Empire Theatre in downtown San Antonio.

Tickets may be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or the Majestic Theatre Box Office.

Perez, a senior theatre arts major, is looking forward to graduation in May 2013, as well as a Theatre Arts Study Abroad trip to London and Stratford in England, and Paris, France, for 10 days.
