JV Tigers fall to Indians
SAN ANTONIO -- The Floresville High School junior varsity Tiger football team had a rough game last Thursday, as the Harlandale Indians beat them 22-7.
The Tigers got behind early after a trick play that resulted in a touchdown for the Indians. At halftime, the Tigers were down 14-0. During the half, the team regrouped and came out focused.
Floresville put together a good second-half opening drive that resulted in a touchdown run by Lorenzo Neaves. The extra-point kick by Aaron Balles was good, bringing the Tigers within 7 points. During the drive, the Tiger offense had some good blocking by Jody Trevino, Roland Aylesworth, Malik Lehmberg, Eric Chavez-Soliz, Joshia Ramirez, Tyler Sanchez, and Tanner Hearne.
The Tiger defense played well, and Luke Smith recovered a fumble for the third game in a row. However, Floresville was unable to put together another drive to get a score.
In the end, the Tigers suffered their first district loss. Their record now stands at 3-2 overall, and 1-1 in district play.
