Hay & Forage report for Sept. 28
Friday, Sept. 28
Compared to last week: Hay prices steady to firm. Trade and demand continues light to moderate as Dairies and Feedlots very cautious and selective in face of high feed ration costs. Areas of south and southeast in the state have received rain in past several weeks and have ample hay on hand and most hay producers will be able to make another cutting and bailing of Coastal Bermuda and other grass hays. These rains over much of the state should help prospects of winter forages and grazing. Prices for hay and pellets quoted per ton except where noted.
