Jan Hamann, an exchange student from Germany, will be an honor guest of the Peanut Festival Court. Jan lives in Floresville with host mom Nancy Koch. His parents, Uta and Joachim Hamann, and 20-year-old sister, Janina, live in Wunstorf, Germany, near Hanover.

Jan, a junior at Floresville High School, is a member of the Floresville tennis team and the Mighty Tiger Band. He plays the piano and marimba.

In Germany, Jan played badminton in a local club and studied the marimba. He was part of the youth parliament of Wunstorf.

Upon returning to Germany, Jan plans to study computer technology, hopefully in a university that will teach classes in English.

Jan’s escort will be Courtney N. Compton.

Courtney, 17, is the daughter of George I. Compton and Susan D. Moore. A senior at Floresville High School, Courtney is in the Mighty Tiger Band along with Jan. She is one of seven seniors in the “Friends Of Rachel” club.

She attends the Floresville United Methodist Church and participates in the youth group there.

Courtney plans to attend either Texas Tech University or the University of Texas to major in criminal justice in the fall of 2013.
