Who makes the best peanut brittle? If you think you do, enter the Floresville Lions Club’s peanut brittle contest. The contest will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, during the Floresville Peanut Festival.

Entries will be accepted from 8-9:30 a.m. at the Jailhouse Museum on the courthouse square. Each contestant must submit one gallon of peanut brittle in an undecorated, clear glass jar. Peanut brittle must be homemade and will become the property of the Lions Club. Judging criteria are color, appearance, texture, and flavor. Contestants do not have to be present to win.

Lions Club members are currently soliciting bids for the top winners. The minimum bid is $75 and all proceeds benefit the Lions Club’s scholarship fund. Every bidder will receive a gallon of homemade peanut brittle.

To place a bid or for more information on entering the contest, call Lion Paul Sack at 830-393-5293 or LaJuana Newnam-Leus at 830-393-2166, or any member of the Floresville Lions Club.
