Candidate for: FLORESVILLE SCHOOL BOARD, District 1

I own and operate BRM Construction and Landscaping LLC and Rockin M Show Supplies. Stacy and I have two children, Payton and Bradley. A graduate of Floresville High School, I have lived in the community for 32 years. I support our youth through the Floresville FFA and Athletic Booster Clubs, Wilson County Livestock Show, and Floresville Peanut Festival.

The education of our children is the most important contribution we can make to our future. The economic boom of the Eagle Ford shale has impacted our community. Issues arise with such explosive expansion of people, housing, and related issues. These need to be addressed by competent and caring community members.

The most important issue I will face if elected is the turnover of educators. Without good teachers, we will not get the best education for our children. State funding has been cut for schools. We must keep pressure on the state to ensure we get funding to keep our district running smoothly. Ensuring top wages for our teachers is a great concern. Our children deserve the best educators.

Being self-employed for most of my adult life, I understand budgets and financial plans. Married to an educator at Floresville North Elementary School, I am aware of issues on a first-hand basis. I want to ensure competitive salaries at all levels, which will attract and retain highly respected, qualified staff. I will focus my attention on goal setting, policy-making, and what is best for all students of Floresville ISD.
