1938-2012

Jo Ann Parks, 74, died in her home near Stockdale, Texas, on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012. She was born July 16, 1938, in Stockdale to George E. and Gracie (Pooley) Mills.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vance Parks; a son, Chris Parks; and her cousin, Jack Jackson.

Jo Ann is survived by four sons, Michael Byrd of El Paso, Gary Parks and wife Linda of Nixon, Steve Parks and wife Judy of Leesville, and Roger Parks and wife Cindy of Boise, Idaho; her brother, George Mills Jr.; grandson Michael Shane Byrd of Caddo; great-grandson John Michael Byrd of Caddo; eight additional grandchildren; three additional great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Visitation was held Sunday, Oct. 14, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon.

A funeral service was held Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Michael Cowey officiating.

Interment followed in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Stockdale.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

I had not seen nor talked to my cousin JoAnn in many, many years. But, as I recall, she was a really sweet and good person. Sympathy to all her family and friends.
