Raymond Asberry Sr., born June 7, 1925, passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at the age of 87. Raymond was born in LaCoste, Texas, was a former resident of Sutherland Springs, and lived most of his life in San Antonio.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Later, he retired from civil service at Kelly Air Force Base with 37 years of service.

Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Melba Asberry; son James R. “Jim” Asberry Jr. and wife Marilyn; and grandchildren Jennifer Wehe and husband Scott and James R. “Trey” Asberry III and wife Sara.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 18, from 6-9 p.m. in the Mission Park Funeral Chapels South in San Antonio.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral chapel.

Interment will follow in Mission Burial Park South in San Antonio.

The Sutherland Spring School Classmates wish to send their deepest sympathy for the loss of Raymond Asberry Sr. He will be missed. We have our reunion every year and he will be remembered and also his family in our prayers.
