LA VERNIA -- The La Vernia Mighty Bear Band Booster Club is hosting its second annual Bear Band Golf Tournament. The event will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, beginning at 8 a.m. at Silverhorn Golf Club in San Antonio.

As a nonprofit organization, the booster club depends on the support it receives from local businesses, as well as many hours of dedication and hard work given by band parents and volunteers. Hole sponsorships with a company or business sign are $100. In addition, sponsors will see their company names prominently displayed on the back of the 2013-14 band booster proud parent shirts. Donated raffle items will also be greatly appreciated.

All proceeds will go to boost the band program. The band’s achievements this year include top honors of the All Region band, State marching band contest, and UIL concert and sight-reading. Numerous other awards and goals have also been achieved by the band this past year. These band students work very hard all year long to achieve their goals and gain confidence in their marching and playing abilities. The students, parents, and staff would like to thank the community of La Vernia in advance for the dedication, support, and commitment to the school’s band program, and to the hardworking students who make up the La Vernia Mighty Bear Band. Without community involvement, La Vernia would not have a successful program.

Band Booster President Shannon O’Brien wishes to thank all the La Vernia football fans for coming to visit the concession stand this year and wishes to thank all the volunteers who help run the concession stand. She also wishes to thank the La Vernia football fans for their enthusiastic applause for the band’s halftime performances. Go Bears!

The Silverhorn Golf Club is located at 1100 W. Bitters Road.

For more information, call Band Booster President Shannon O’Brien at 830-534-7360 or email shannon.o’brien@lvschools.net.
