POTH -- Police here are asking for the public’s help in solving a recent rash of burglaries and thefts.

Sgt. Troy Phillips of the Poth Police Department said a black, 1995 Chevrolet Camaro with the Texas license-plate number DKY-438 was stolen this morning from the Wiatrek’s meat processing plant on Menchaca Street.Phillips also said that since Oct. 1, burglaries have been reported at the Poth city yard and the Wilson County Precinct 2 yard. A man identified as Eric Treviño of Poth, who allegedly broke into the Precinct 2 yard on two separate occasions, was arrested on Menchaca Street, just after 11 p.m. Oct. 16 by the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office. His accomplice is still at large, Phillips said.

Approximately $800 of steel fencing also was report-ed stolen Oct. 8 from near a shed at the Poth High School football stadium, Phillips said.

Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call the Poth Police Department at 830-484-0281. Anonymous tips -- which qualify for a cash reward if they lead to an arrest -- can be submitted to Crime Stoppers of Wilson County at 830-393-INFO (4636) or bit.ly/NDrIut.

now that the worthless Chief of Police is gone in Poth, maybe now we can move forward instead of stalling to see how he was going to cover for his friends
