In an ad run recently in the WCN the following is stated: "...I will continue to work hard to carry out the duties of the Constable's office to the best of my ability..."
I would like to know what Mr Stevens has done, since assuming office after the last election as the Precinct 2 Constable, that could be characterized as "...working hard to carry out the duties of the Constables office.." Ms. Castillo is one of the biggest disappointments to ever hit this city. She portrayed herself to be someone who would listen and stand up for us. What has she done? She puts a restraining order on a little old lady just because she questioned her. She even has the police escort her to her car at the end of a meeting. Why? And Mr. Flores? While I do not consider him a "friend", I do support what he stands for and hope he has the opportunity to serve our community by being elected onto the council. As Dannny Tejada stated on his facebook yesterday, an "outsider" has attempted to recall the council and hospital board and thus Danny's conclusion is that he feels this "outsider" is saying we as a community have failed. We the Community have not failed. The ones who have been elected onto the council and those who have been appointed on boards have failed. The community is stronger then ever in our efforts to seek the truth and stop corruption. The mentality and attitude that the council can do what they want and not be held accountable is not in the best interest of Floresville. The city council & fedc should all be replaced with knowledgeable & qualified people. Its clear they don't know what they are doing in the sense of serving the community. I encourage people not to vote for someone because they simply are family or someone they've known their whole life. Vote for the person who can get the job done, and get it done right. I'd vote for an outsider who has the best intentions for our community over a local who wants to do whatever him/her wants because they simply think they can. To those who win the election, I hope you keep in mind that you work for us, the taxpayers and citizens of Floresville. Your obligation is to this city and to the community, not the other way around.

Last night I had the privilege of hearing Mayor Daniel Tejada speak for the first time. I must say I was very impressed. He has an awesome voice. He spoke clearly, effectively, and to the point. It was at the new Floresville Civic Center which has served our community well (much better than the Show Barn). We should all if given the opportunity take the time to Thank him for his SERVICE to our community. He did a great job in preserving our down town & keeping up with our fast growing community. Thank You Mayor Tejada. Good luck in your future endeavors because we all know you can't keep a good man down !

There are a little over 4000 registered voter's in Flo Town. I hope we all show up to cast our vote. Please choose wisely. It is pretty clear we need a lot of things for our growth to be beneficial to our property values, small town atmosphere, & safety issues. We want to keep our town in our hands not the city slickers hands. That is the only way Floresville is going to stay our home-town. GO VOTE ;))))

I asked him there, not during the forum but after it was over. I am far from priveleged in this county, and there is a deputy that lives down the street from us that gives us tickets because it is against the law, but we still do it. You still speed don't you? I asked him away from the cameras and while we were standing by the door. So it would not be on camera.
I'm so glad that many of you know so much about the law and law enforcement. Bail is set by judges not by the sheriff. The deputies only enforce the laws that are written, the judicial system takes care of the rest. Maybe your daughter's boyfriend/husband knew one of the judges. To make bail they only need 10% of the bail amount, ($25,000 needs $2,500, etc...) that is the judicial system that allows them to get out on bail until proven guilty by the courts. That is a constituitional right. After deputies make the arrest, the "criminal" is now in the hands of the judicial system. Did your daughter choose to press charges? If not the state of Texas will do it on her behalf, because most women will not press charges to stop the madness and the cycle continues. Also don't blame your actions on others, you decided to pay their rent, insurance, car, etc... maybe giving them some responsiblity to act like adults they will act like adults.
You all think it will be better with Burchell? Wow, he has you all blind. He will bring in all the guys from Bexar County and you will have to be part of his good 'ol boy system. Ask any person that works or has worked for the Bexar County Sheriff Department, there is a reason he is trying to get elected to office. We have a Bexar County deputy that lives next to us and he has informed all of us of his true character.
I'd rather have Sheriff Tackitt and the deputy that lives down the street from us any time and day. At least I know their true character and not some psuedo.

Enough, I was at the forum and heard no such thing. It is interesting that only you heard your allegations! I will let the people make up their own mind on who to support. As for concealed carry, again I was there, he did not say he wanted every citizen to carry. He responded to the question with the words of the question, he believes all 'law abiding citizens should be allowed to carry a concealed weapon.' He did NOT say 'he wanted every citizen to carry.' Any believer in the 2d Amendment would say the same. BTW, this is Tackitt's position as well. You must be one who believes that guns, not people, cause crime. Those are the same people who believe wet streets cause rain.

I will not vote for Burchell. He does not know the first thing about wilson county. Ask some bexar county deputies why he is wanting to leave the sheriff's office there. He tried to run for Rep. Keumpel's position and lost and people did not like him then. I was at this forum and I think it is funny that he wants all citizens to carry a concealed handgun. Let's think about that for a moment...really? We do not need any toting a gun around that has no idea how to use it, and can bring it out at any time. That is a recipe for disaster. I asked him if it was true of the rumor that he would fire all the deputies and hire those he knows from bexar county to run our county. He hesitated in his answer and stated if he thought that the deputies needed to be removed from their position then he would. If he sees that they are not writing tickets, enforcing the laws to the fullest extent, then yes those would be dismissed from the force. He wants officers in his office that will enforce the laws to the fullest extent and not give consideration to anyone is what I received from him. I know that we ride our golf cart and four wheeler out in our neighborhood and that is a NO NO! He wants to enforce all rules to their fullest extent. He thinks we have a big gang problem here, we do not. His ideals are those from bexar county and do not work for our county. I do not personally know the current sheriff but I'm willing to keep him in office for the fact that we are safe and I see his deputies do their job and are compassionate about it. They want to see justice for those that break the law and they are reasonable to others. We are not a county of major crime, yes we have crime, but who doesn't? We are growing because of the ford shale and our population is growing because people are leaving bexar county, gonzales and guadlaupe and moving here to our county. Burchell did it himself when he faced crime in bexar county, he moved to wilson county to be safer! When asked if he thought we had an extension of crime here he again hesitated and stated that wilson county is a relatively safe county that is why he moved his family here, he is far enough away from bexar county but close enough still to shop there. He doesn't have one clue what any of our communities do for each other as he has never been a part of any community functions and has never donated to anything in this community. I hope to see the current sheriff stay in office and I have been telling everyone what I saw at the forum. I do NOT want a person that wants more tickets written to be in office. We are a safe community and our current sheriff needs to be recognized for that. His office works hard to keep everyone safe in our county and has done a fine job. He is well respected around the state of texas and has built a name of respect and safety here. I encourage everyone to keep our current sheriff in office.

Same goes for me. I liked Mr. Burchell's responses to the questions. Voted for him on Monday. The crime is rising faster than our population. I believe we need someone that can provide officers with better techniques and strategies to catch the bad guys. We need to curb the illegal narcotics and human trafficking that is in, and goes through our town.

Mr. Burchelle was very professional and showed he has the experience and knowledge to be a great Sherrif for Wilson county. Wish more folks were there to listen to him answer questions to understand and know what he stands for. He would bea great change and has the credentials to make a great Sherriff. He won my vote that night.
