Qualifications: Have active worship life and ongoing growth in faith, understanding of Lutheran-Christian tradition, ability to work with both adults and youth, basic computer and organizational skills. Director will disciple both parents and youth grades 1-12, establish appropriate caring relationships with youth, seek opportunities to connect with youth in their environment on their schedule, organize parents into groups for children's ministry work, arrange at least 3 annual local events or trips for Sr. high youth, recruit and encourage youth and adults to take positions of shared leadership and involvement, create and implement means for regular communication with parents and youth, manage youth and family ministry calendar in collaboration with staff, parents, and youth. Sister M. Isabel Estrada, 77, of Victoria, Texas, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012. She was born on March 1, 1935, in Floresville to Jose Gonzalez Estrada and Julia De Leon Estrada.

She was a Catholic and a member of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament. Sister Isabel attended Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School in Floresville and Floresville High School. She entered the Nazareth Convent in Victoria Aug. 26, 1951, as a senior, and graduated from Nazareth Academy in 1952. She became a postulant Dec. 2, 1951, and received the habit June 2, 1952. She made annual vows June 3, 1953, and final vows Aug. 5, 1956.

Sister Isabel received her bachelor’s degree with a major in English and a minor in Spanish from Incarnate Word College and a Master of Education degree from Southwest Texas State University with a major in administration and a minor in psychology/sociology. She also studied at the Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio. During her 59 years of profession, Sister Isabel ministered as a teacher at St. Leo School in San Antonio, Holy Cross School in Bay City, St. Mary’s School in Nada, St. Agnes School in San Antonio, St. Michael’s in Weimar, and Nazareth Academy in Victoria. Later she served as principal at St. Michael’s School in Weimar, Holy Cross School in Bay City, Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Selma, and St. Joseph School in Yoakum. Sister Isabel had a great love for music and spent many after-school hours teaching piano lessons in an effort to inspire others. She moved to Incarnate Word Convent in 2004 and began a part-time ministry at Nazareth Academy as well as household ministries at Incarnate Word Convent. She entered into her Apostolate of Prayer and Suffering in 2009.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Joe A. Estrada and wife Alice; and a sister, Sister M. Rosario Estrada.

Sister Isabel is survived by her sister, Albina Lucius and husband Norbert; brother Edward Estrada and wife Helen; niece Theresa Estrada; and nephews Joey Estrada, Eddie Estrada Jr., and Roland Estrada.

Viewing of the body and scriptural rosary was held on Friday, Oct. 19, at 3 p.m. in the Incarnate Word Convent in Victoria.

A wake service with evening praise and a sharing of memories was held on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the convent.

A funeral service was held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the convent.

Interment followed in the Catholic Cemetery No. 3 in Victoria.
