FHS October students of the month
Floresville High School’s October female student of the month is Lindsey Wilson. Lindsey is the 17-year-old daughter of Janice and Phillip Wilson.
For her efforts in the classroom, Lindsey has earned many recognitions. She received the Outstanding Student of the Year award for Advanced Broadcast Journalism, chemistry, and Advanced Broadcast Journalism II. She has been named to the “A” Honor Roll the past three years.
Lindsey is also very active in FHS extracurricular activities. As a member of Link Crew, she serves as a peer mentor to incoming freshmen, helping them make a successful transition into high school. She is a member in good standing with the National Honor Society and currently serves as reporter/historian for the Student Council. Lindsey has participated in the news, feature, and editorial writing events for UIL Academics and won first place in district in last year’s news writing contest.
Lindsey has also found success as a member of the varsity tennis team, where her earned Regional Qualifier honors in the fall of 2009 and 2010. In the spring of 2010, Lindsey was the district champion in girls singles competition.
Despite her busy schedule, Lindsey still finds time for employment. She is currently an aide in the FHS counseling office and is a freelance writer for the Wilson County News.
Upon graduation in June, Lindsey plans to attend the University of Texas, where she will major in journalism.
The October male student of the month is Abel Ingle. Abel is the 17-year-old son of Carmen and Edward Ingle.
Abel has earned the Outstanding Student of the Year award for Algebra I and was named to the “A” Honor Roll the past three years. He is a member in good standing with the National Honor Society and is a member of the FHS UIL Number Sense team.
Abel is also a leader among his peers and is serving his second term as the class of 2013 president.
In addition to his academics, Abel has been active in FHS athletics. As a member of the track and field team, Abel was a regional qualifier in 2010, 2011, and 2012. He was also a regional qualifier for powerlifting last year.
When not busy with his academic and extracurricular activities, Abel is volunteering his time and talents in the community. He has participated and helped plan ACTS retreats through St. Anthony’s Church, and has also worked at Pepperoni’s Pizzeria for two years.
Upon graduation in June, Abel plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin, where he will major in civil engineering.
