La Vernia area resident Paden Pace is the recipient of a $500 scholarship presented this year by the Hermann Sons Youth Camp in Comfort. Pace is a member of La Vernia Hermann Sons Lodge No. 180. He worked as a counselor at Hermann Sons Youth Camp this past summer and is now attending the University of Texas.

Each year Hermann Sons Youth Camp presents its Shannon Leigh Gaffney Scholarships to a member of the summer staff. The recipient is chosen in a drawing that includes the names of staff members who will be attending college in the fall.

Hermann Sons is a fraternal insurance society. Besides the youth camp, the Order operates 32 tuition-free dance schools for its junior members and a retirement home for its older members.

For more information, call 1-800-234-4124 or 210-226-9261.
