Brahma runners qualify for regional

STOCKDALE -- On Oct. 23, the Stockdale High School varsity boys cross-country team qualified for regionals by placing third in the district meet.
The Brahmas ran their best times of the year, allowing them to beat a very good Nixon-Smiley team by 1 point. Jordan Jackson led the way with his 10th-place finish in a time of 19:03. Ethan Chavez was 12th with a time of 19:31, Samuel Scriven was 13th at 19:41, and Austin Akin finished 16th to crack the top 20 in a time of 20:07. Austin Gonzales was 24th at 21:35, Tristan Marquez was 25th in a time of 22:17, and Will Morris finished 28th in a time of 25:31. Head Coach Lester Jackson said he was very proud of these boys, as they have worked very hard this year.
Perry Bone ran for the junior varsity boys team and finished sixth with a time of 22:10. Zachary Campbell turned in a time of 23:29 to finish 11th. Victoria Lerma led the varsity girls’ effort with her 23rd-place finish in a time of 18:25, and Kaitlyn Morris was one spot back at 24th in a time of 19:18.
The Brahma varsity runners will compete in the Regional Cross Country Meet Saturday, Nov. 3, in San Antonio.
