Woodsboro 22
Falls City 30

FALLS CITY -- They knew it wouldn’t be easy, but the Falls City Beavers stayed focused on the task at hand last Friday night, and handed Woodsboro the team’s second loss of the year.

The first quarter was a scoring barrage, as the teams combined for five touchdowns during that first 12 minutes of play. The Beavers held a slight advantage after the first quarter, leading 22-14, but the Eagles came right back in the second to tie the game at 22-all, a score that would hold until halftime.

In the third quarter, the Beavers scored a touchdown and then added the 2-point conversion to go up 30-22. Falls City’s defense held the lead from there, and the Beavers retained their spot atop the district.

Falls City quarterback Cameron Soto completed 11 of 19 passes on the night for 44 yards and a touchdown. He also carried the load on the ground, running 21 times for 158 yards and another touchdown. Phillip Lyssy ran six times for 37 yards and two Beaver touchdowns, and Cody Jendrusch had a nice run of 14 yards.

Dean Gaskamp was the Beavers’ leading receiver of the night with two catches for 52 yards. Stephen Harlos reeled in two catches for 29 yards, and Austen Camber brought in another for 28 yards and a touchdown. Lyssy caught two passes for 18 yards.

On defense, Eric Wiatrek once again led the Beavers with 14 total tackles. Colton Beam had nine solo tackles to help him total 13 on the night, and Dylan Cheatham added another 12 tackles. Camber had 10 tackles, and Lyssy added another nine. Jake Hinds came up with a sack for Falls City, and Beam intercepted a Woodsboro pass.

The win puts the Beavers at 6-2 on the year, and Falls City is now 2-0 in district play. Falls City will play at Louise this Friday, Nov. 2, and will close out the regular season at home next week with Runge. Kickoff for each game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
