Bruce Edward Thorne, 63, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012. He was born July 2, 1949, in Corpus Christi, the son of Wallace Thorne and Opal Irene Young.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law, Claudine Dunn.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Geneva Thorne of La Vernia; his daughters, Kimberly Thorne and Jennifer Parker and husband Bryan; his grandchildren, Joshua Thorne, Matthew Thorne, Mary Parker, Ryan Parker, and Bradley Parker; his brother, Wallace Thorne Jr.; his father-in-law, A.J. Dunn and wife Grace; numerous nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.

Visitation was held Friday, Nov. 2, from 1-2 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel of La Vernia.

A funeral service was held Friday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David Gayle officiating.

Interment followed in the Concrete Cemetery in La Vernia.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
