Help Wanted

ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Maria “Mary” Cruz Garcia Perez, a longtime resident of Bedford, Texas, entered eternal rest Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at 11:25 a.m. in Vitas Hospice in San Antonio, at the age of 66 years, 5 months, and 27 days. Mary was born May 3, 1946, in Floresville, the daughter of Apolinario and Maria Alvarado Garcia.

After graduating from Floresville High School, Mary worked as an operator and supervisor for AT&T and Southwestern Bell, from which she retired in 1999. She was a member of St. John The Apostle Catholic Church in Bedford and the CWA Union.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, Apolinario Garcia; and her brother, Jose Miguel Garcia.

Mary is survived by her children, Laura Marie Perez Archer of Keller and Wallace Anthony Perez and wife Carolyn of Keller; her mother, Maria Alvarado Carrillo; siblings Paul Garcia, Juan Garcia, and Rosario Alcaraz, all of San Antonio, and Estevan Carrillo Jr. of California; her grandchildren, Karleigh Chavez and husband Michael of Hawaii, Hunter Perez of Keller, and Aleigha Perez of Keller; and her great-grandson, Christopher Chavez of Hawaii.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 5 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday at 9 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, officiated by the Rev. Phillip Henning.

Interment followed in the Cañada Verde Cemetery in Wilson County.

Serving as pallbearers were Hilario Martinez, Francisco Martinez III, Juan Garcia, John Paul Garcia, Estevan Carrillo III, and Stephen Hagdorn Jr.
