that Wilson county should be proud of this year's teams.
Aside from coaching the kids, coaches have to put up
with idiot fans and parents.

The Tigers have played Port Lavaca for the last 5 or 6 years and get their heads kicked in every time and Luna has been a tiger coach for every single one of the those losses. He obviously is not the guy that is going to turn the tide. FISD needs to hire a new football coach that will breath life into this football program. It does take time to turn aprogram around. Luna has had 6 or 7 years and proved that he can't get the job done. A former pirate is not the answer that Floresville football needs.

Why are you trying to softpedal and tiptoe around the truth. PL has an excellent team, FHS has an average plus team...excellent almost always wins over average. that's a whole lot of what's wrong with kids these days...there are parents and others telling them that they are entitled! I'm sure the kids play as hard as they can, but a sprinter from FHS is not going to beat Carl Lewis...just won't happen and to 'gently' tell the kids that if Carl Lewis has a muscle tear and defaults on his start and passes out before he crosses the finish line, they might beat him. That's silly and unrealistic.

And, you are delirious when mentioned making a funny. I was not being funny, stating facts.

And, so what if the coach is your friend? That's good to have friends, but even coaches are put into an impossible situation where they can't win. I see it day in and day out where a coach is hired to coach a really bad team and is unsuccessful. Even Gary Kubiak took about 7 years of patience improvement to finally have a good team. It takes a public school several years to stoke up the interest and get enough athletes out to make a difference. why do you think some schools are successful and some are not? Ever heard of katy High School? I use to live in that area. there was a time when they were just average. They hired a coach that stayed for several years and worked with the junior high coaches running the same plays that they run at the high school level. By the time those junior high kids get to the high school level and they are very familar with the system and what is expected. Do you think it is an accident that Katy has won several State Championships and is currently ranked #4 In the nation? heck no! It takes perseverance, patience, planning, attitude. Every time I turn around FHS has a new coach. A coach needs a minimum of 4 or 5 years to turn a program around. I wish FHS kids well, but realistically they have very little chance of winning this week even if everything bad happens to PL and everything good happend to FHS.

I'm not offended that you think they are going to lose - its your attempts at being funny at someone elses expense. I could care less whether Floresville wins or loses other than I want their coach to be successful since he is a friend and a fellow Pirate.

Try something like this:

Floresville has their work cut out for them this week. They are playing one of the top teams in the region. If they play a perfect game, don't have any turnovers, have a few things go their way, they might come away with the upset. Now GO GET 'EM TIGERS!!!!!!

And, if you are playing a much better team, your chances of losing is much greater (I can prove this with statistical analysis). Nothing negative, just pure, plain facts. And,if you want me to blow smoke up the dresses of a group of high school athletes inflating their already inflated egos just to satisfy some area of 'positive' thinking, you are wrong my jolly friend. Fact is, if I was betting, I'd give odds that Mighty FHS Tigers will lose this bi-district game...nothing personal, just facts.

Do you really think any of those 16 or 17 year olds are reading this blog? LOL! They're looking at porn, smoking a little pot, trying to fool around with their girlfriends. That's why they play football partly...it MAKES THEM FEEL IMPORTANT AND THEY ARE THE 'COOL GUYS' cause they play football.

Are you really that naive? I have nothing against football. I watch several games every week end. And, yes I was in the band playing my little clarinet with white shoes. But, I guarantee you that very few of those football plays could do what band members do. Try marching backwards and sideways playing a difficult piece of music at the same time in unison with 100 other people sometime....much harder than run right/left/forward or block the guy in front of you.

Yep, hit a nerve there.

Floresville has never had the size, the speed, the depth as really good state ranked type teams have. And, the interest has never been there like in some schools. I know of several 3A and 4A schools that have as many as 200 to 300 kids trying out for the team every year. i'll bet you won't find that at FHS.

so, what if they are 16 and 17 years old?...about time to realize you can't always win. And, any idiot that follows football knows that Port Lavaca is a power house capable of winning the state championship. Have never heard of the FHS Mighty Tigers described that way. So, why paint everything with a 'happy' brush. I think they are going to get their behinds kicked pretty good and I stick by that. Half of every team playing this week is going to get beaten and that includes some teams that are considerably better than The Tigers. Not to worry, they'll get over it.
