The 81st & 218th Judicial District Community Supervision and Corrections Department (Adult Probation) is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). This is a full-time position that will require travel to the following counties: Atascosa, Frio, Karnes, LaSalle, and Wilson. Requirements: Must be licensed as a chemical dependency counselor through the Texas Department of State Health Services. Starting Salary: $33,705 (Associates Degree), $35,705 (Bachelor’s Degree), plus State benefits and mileage. 1932-2012

Eddie B. Callender, 80, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, in San Antonio. Eddie was born in Denhawken on Jan. 14, 1932, to Curtis and Alma (Hobbs) Callender.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and one sister.

Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara; son Eddie B. Callender Jr. and wife Judy; daughters Bonnie Johnson and husband Larry, and Wanda Hearn; grandchildren Brian Hearn and wife Rebecca, Crystal Callender, Jennifer Pierdolla and husband Bruce, Brandon Hearn, Curtis J. Callender and wife Dayna, Jennifer Gartman, Kelly Petras and husband Bryan, and Jessica Woods and husband Keith; 12 great-grandchildren; sister Joyce Kirkpatrick; brothers Wayne Callender and wife Helen, and Preston Callender and wife Nelda; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and many friends.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 4-7 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Terry Summerlin officiating.

Interment will follow in the Nockenut Cemetery in Stockdale.

Pallbearers will be Brian Hearn, Brandon Hearn, Curtis Callender, Larry Johnson, Bruce Pierdolla, and Mark Pennock.
