Stockdale News: Eagle Ford businesses come to city
By Hayden Krueger
This past year, the city of Stockdale added several new businesses, bringing about growth to a city that has otherwise been described as a “bedroom community.” On March 3, David Kendall expanded his corporation, Stevens Transportation, to Stockdale to accommodate the growing production of the Eagle Ford shale. After searching, they decided that Stockdale was a good fit for their particular business. Because the business performs services to accommodate the oil field, Stockdale, being centrally located, makes it a quick trip to nearby counties, such as Karnes and Gonzales, to perform any duties involved in the oil boom. This business is not only a member of the Stockdale Chamber of Commerce, but it also provides income revenue, growth, and employment for the community.
Another business that is new to the area is Campers Cove RV Park. Stacie Scheel opened her business in May of 2012. Located off of Wheeler Street in Stockdale, Scheel provides the city with RV rental sites. Her business brings in newcomers and helps to relocate employees who are also involved in the oil industry. Although these are not the only clients they cater to, the RV sites are also available to anyone who needs to park their RV for an indefinite period of time. The income that is generated helps the city to build revenue through ad valorem taxes and takes undeveloped property and makes it a viable income-producing property where everyone is in a win-win situation. This business is also a member of the Stockdale Chamber of Commerce, and the city gladly welcomes both of these newcomers to Stockdale.
